Bhutan to sue over Disneyland's right to claim "Happiest place on earth"

Thimpu, Bhutan — In the first of its kind move, a tiny Himalayan nation has sued an American media company for false advertising over its long running slogan.

Bhutan is claiming Disneyland’s self-appointed label, “The happiest place on earth” is verifiably untrue.

“We take happiness very seriously,” claimed Bhutan Prime Minister Lotay Tshering. “Unlike the mouse who thinks giggles from a handful of well-fed midwesterners counts for happiness. It does not.”

The high-altitude, high-minded country may have a point. In 2008 Bhutan was the first country to implement the Gross National Happiness index, a rubric used to measure the collective happiness and well-being of its population. In the same period Mr. Tshering claims Disneyland has done “precisely fuckall.”

The plucky Prime Minister seems out for blood, taking aim at Disneyland’s infamous crowds and endless lines; even calling into question Mickey’s falsetto octave.

“Surely I can’t be the first to have noticed Mickey has the voice of a eunuch” noted Mr. Tshering. “Call me crazy, but the high pitched musings of a castrated rodent don’t engender a sense of joy.”

More to come.
