Report: “Man Bun” Tops Fedora as Most Inexcusable Men’s Style

In a comprehensive report out of Wichita State University’s famed culture lab, Buzz Bees, the hairstyle known as the “Man Bun” has proven to be the winner when it comes to detestable male fashion choices.

Lead researcher Julia Delplemann conducted an exhaustive series of interviews across a broad range of style choices, asking each participant what they imagine the potential reasons were behind various appearance conscious decisions.

“The data revealed a range of negative opinions that is incredibly hard to ignore.” Delplemann detailed in her report.

“That instantly killed my lady boner,” said one unnamed study participant, when shown an image of some putrid coil of hair resting on the back of a man’s head.

A once popular way for a man to collect their head’s overgrowth, the “Man Bun” has seen better days, now ranking above “white hightops,” “ringer t-shirts,” “soul patches,” and the longtime incumbent “Fedora,” a hat from a bygone era that may have made the questionable choice to wear of late.

The Man Bun’s rise to the top of this list of undesirables is surprising to few in the Kansas based research group. On the cusp of what makes men’s style tick ever since they anointed “Norm Core” as the hottest trend in the early 2010s, this lab has led the way in sartorial analysis.

“We’ll just have to wait until next year to see what might overtake the man bun,” says Delpemann, “I can’t imagine such a turgid style can remain popular long enough to show up in our data yet again.”
