Seeking more Coastal Support, Klobuchar to change name to “Kombuchar”

Minneapolis, MN — In perhaps the most pandering gesture in political history, dark horse Democratic presidential aspirant Senator Amy Klobuchar, has changed her name to Amy Kombuchar to beef up her coastal bona fides.

“We’re no stranger to candidates seeking to connect with new audiences,” noted UCLA political messaging professor Abel Twentyman. “But a name change to please the hydration habits of hypebeasts is obsequious in the extreme.”

While surprising, the move is in keeping with politicians’ growing need to manufacture a shtick to breakthrough the clutter.

“We really think the properties of Kombucha fit well with Amy’s brand,” noted campaign manager Sven Lutefisk. “Like Kombucha, Amy is tangy, effervescent, and will give the economy’s metabolism a real kick.”

More to come.
