Along with Bags and Coats, SF MOMA to check “White Privilege"

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — In a move certain to rankle many, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art now offers patrons the opportunity to check their white privilege at the door.

“Art is the great leveler,” noted museum curator Elijah Kennewick. “We believe it’s best viewed when unearned advantages are kept under lock and key.”

The move is seen as the first in a line of offerings to check myriad unmerited privileges.

Following the roll out of white privilege check, the museum will offer checking services for Height privilege (for those over the national averages 5’9” for men; 5’4” for women); Sight privilege (for those fortunate to enjoy 20:20 vision); and in an oblique twist, the privilege afforded to men named Dwight.

“Dwight privilege is often overlooked,” Said Kennewick. “But men named Dwight are more likely to be dentists, accountants, or athletes — all high earning careers, so it’s definitely on our roadmap of inequities to slay.”

More to come.
