Swag Laden Intern Surprised to Learn 40-Year-Old Manager Has Seen More Drake Performances

Santa Monica, CA – When Christian Sanders started his Internship this summer, he encountered the sort of ‘culture shock’ any peach state native might when spending a summer at a corporate office in sunny Southern California. And then some.

Sanders, a Sophomore from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia thought his summer on the West Coast would expose him to new and interesting trends in both fashion and music. What he didn’t find that his hip hop tastes, that of an African American kid who grew up in suburban Atlanta, would be reciprocated by a middle aged white man more than twice his age.

Mr. Sanders landed a coveted role in the marketing department of Activision, a company he had his eye on after countless Call of Duty marathon gaming sessions, soundtracked by his iPod touch, which was bumping the poetic stylings of Aubrey Drake Graham, better known by his stage name, Drake.  So, imagine Christian’s surprise to find out that his group’s manager, 42-year-old Steve Sussman, had seen the Canadian rapper perfrom live, a staggering thirty one times to Christian’s eight. Sure, there’s plenty of folks out there more dedicated than, Mr. Sussman, who’ve amassed more real life viewings of Drake performances, but they don’t live in Torrance and they don’t drive a Lexus ES 300 Hybrid.

Here Christian was, thinking he was basically best friends with Mr. “Call me on my cell phone,” having only had seen him burn down the house on merely eight separate occasions. But, once he heard Steve’s number, he was red-in-the face embarrassed.

Even Steve’s Daughter Aubrey, by virtue of going to shows with her father had surpassed Christians’ number. Christian, having been embarrassed by not only his boss but his middle school daughter, was beside himself and could do nothing but only cast his dreams even higher.

“Because,” a defeated Christian would tell this reporter, “sometimes you know what your ‘Here’ is in life, but you can’t get there, until you get started from the bottom.”
